'Tales of the Unexpected'

This image was first posted on the Facebook group 'Memories of horsford' by Gareth Hughes, and I now have permission from the ITV Film Archive to feature it (thank you Dave Woodward).

The movie stills are taken from a 1980 episode of Anglia TV's wonderful 'Tales of the Unexpected'.  The episode is called  'Parson's Pleasure'  and features scenes filmed in Horsford.

In the image you can see John Gielgud  (he wasn't 'Sir' then)  on Church St.  You can see his car by the phone box, a tasty 'Standard Vanguard 6'  -  named after Britain's last battleship, HMS Vanguard.

Do you know anyone who recalls the filming, and would like to tell us any stories about it?  Did the crew and actors stay locally, or did they travel in from Norwich or London?

Does anyone know whose horse and cart it was . . and what happened to the phone box?

I'd love to know more about it, so that I can add a story to the images.

The full episode is occasionally available on Youtube, or similar sites, so it's worth searching 'Tales of the Unexpected Parson's Pleasure' on Google or Youtube to see if you can track it down.  Alternatively you can probably find the VHS/DVD on Ebay, Amazon or elsewhere.

I wonder whether the Horsford area has featured in any other productions?
