WHAT'S THE BIG IDEA?

Horsford Life magazine is here to celebrate and promote the Norfolk Broadland village of Horsford. Our mission is to make this website a useful resource for existing and potential residents, businesses, Broadland visitors  . . or the simply curious.

Horsford is a fairly large village in the county of Norfolk, England, UK.  Situated a cycle ride from Norwich, the village is ideally located for exploring the mediaeval and cosmopolitan city.   We're also smack bang in the middle of Norfolk's beautiful Broadland, and have convenient and close access to the delightful North Norfolk coast and The Broads National Park.  Broadland is recognised nationally as a particularly peaceful and pleasant place to live, with crime levels lower than the rest of England.  Life here rates very high on the happiness index.

Norfolk itself is the county of Admiral Lord Nelson and Sir Thomas Browne, of Colman's Mustard and Bewilderwood, of Stephen Fry and, of course, Alan Partridge.  You'll find pace a little slower here, and we like it that way.  So do the Royal Family, who frequently retire to the beauty and seclusion of Her Majesty's country retreat at Sandringham Estate.

Horsford itself is steeped in history, with records dating back at least as far as The Domesday Book of 1086.  But history here goes back much, much farther . . something that you'll learn as we develop our history pages.

But doesn't Horsford already have a great community magazine? Indeed it does. We're big fans of the excellent, printed  'Horsford News'  and are keen to support its continued success.  Our intention is to fill the digital online niche rather than compete with existing publications. If we can go even part way towards complementing the existing information out there, with digital online content, then we'll consider that a great success.

So, what's going to make us better than any other online source of information for the Horsford area? Well, quite simply, because we actually live here.  We have a heart-felt passion for seeing things go well in the Horsford area.  It might have escaped your notice that many digital and printed village magazines are infact written and edited by non-locals; in the case of some online content, by people who haven't even visited the area.  We think that's missing the whole point of  'local'.

We want to see activities, events, groups, ventures and businesses succeed here, and we'll do all we can to assist with that. You can assist us too, by using the contact options within the site to let us know about anything you want featured or publicised.  We want your stories, photos, videos and promotions.

Finally, Horsford Life magazine firmly believes that local shopping is the future.  It is local businesses supporting each other, and the community, that will help secure a vibrant and profitable century for our village.

So, Keep It Local, Horsford . . you'll be sure of a warm welcome!
